Go on a autumn time adventure

Stuff you’ll need:

  • Curiosity!

Info

Autumn is the time of year when plants and animals start to go to sleep for the winter. Trees begin to lose their leaves and animals like squirrels busily collect nuts to store over winter. Birds are in the hedgerows eating berries, golden grass stems wave in the wind and dew shines on plants in the morning.

Don’t forget that we have loads of useful resources to help you identify the different types of wildlife you encounter, such as bumblebees, butterflies, and wildflowers. In addition, the Seek app is free to download and the perfect tool for exploring and learning about nature.

We would love to see pictures of the nature you find whilst exploring. Tag us @backyardnatuk on Facebook, Instagram on Twitter, and make sure to use #BackyardNature. We’ll be sharing the best posts on our photo wall.
