We want to celebrate some of the brilliant work we’ve been working on with the UK’s largest water company, Thames Water!
Together we have been busy bees as always, reaching out to communities who have less access to green spaces and are underrepresented but are nature guardians of their local patches. Our partnership will help to boost biodiversity, conserve water and empower people to take action where they live.
OUR WORK TOGETHER INCLUDES:
1. A microgrant fund. This is now closed for 2022, coming back for 2023!
2. A series of accessible nature resources which celebrate water as a way to connect with and protect nature
3. An innovative JEDI programme. JEDI (Justice, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion) Nature Champions are young individuals or groups of young people who are passionate about nature and want to inspire others to feel included and take action where they live
4. A seedball giveaway – coming soon!
Through this programme, we are supporting nature guardians who come from communities typically underrepresented in environmental action, such as:
People of Colour and People from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) backgrounds
People with disabilities
People from LGBTQIA+ communities
People from areas of social deprivation
People from low socioeconomic status households
We have created some special resources with Thames Water to help our nature guardians understand water as a life force for nature. You can download them here:
CREATE A BUTTERFLY PUDDLE
Make a lovely Butterfly Puddle on your Patch with our Create A Butterfly Puddle guide!
Follow our brilliant step-by-step guide to make your own bird bath for your patch! We need to help protect our birds, and by leaving water for them to drink and bathe in you can support your local bird population. Animals won’t be short of water – not in our backyard!
